He is best known for his long career with the Green Bay Packers and for later joining the New York Jets. A four-time Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player, Rodgers led the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV and has been widely regarded as one of the leading quarterbacks of his era.
Background/biography
Rodgers is the son of Edward Wesley Rodgers and Darla Leigh Pittman Rodgers. His father played football at Chico State University. Rodgers has two brothers, Luke and Jordan.
He spent parts of his childhood in Chico, California, and Beaverton, Oregon, before returning to California. He attended Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, where he played quarterback and attracted interest from junior-college programs rather than major Division I football schools.
Rodgers began his college career at Butte College in Oroville, California. After a strong season there, he transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, where he played for the California Golden Bears. His performances at Cal turned him into an NFL prospect ahead of the 2005 NFL Draft.

His first season with the Jets was disrupted by an Achilles tendon injury suffered early in the 2023 season. He remained with the organization as he worked toward a return to play.
The No. 12 legacy and move to New York
Rodgers wore No. 12 throughout his Packers career, a number closely associated with his years in Green Bay. After joining the Jets, he wore No. 8 because No. 12 had been retired by the franchise in honor of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath.
His move from Green Bay to New York marked the end of an era for the Packers. Rodgers had spent 18 seasons with the organization, including 15 as its primary starting quarterback, after initially entering the league behind Favre.
